A former Jet has taken to Twitter to say goodbye to the NFL. Here is a tweet from former Jets’ third string QB Greg McElroy:

A very intelligent player, McElroy will find himself an excellent career after football, no matter what he chooses to do, and we all wish him well in his future endeavors.

He got his start here in New York, mainly as a third string quarterback, getting into the lineup for a benched Mark Sanchez in 2012. Most of us remember the drive he led to keep the playoff hopes alive in a late season game against the Cardinals that year, earning the Jets a 7-6 win.

Last season, however, he was beaten out for third string by Matt Simms and he was gone. Some say he had been on the outs with the organization ever since having some things to say about the locker room. It could be, but now he is on to different pastures.

Good luck Greg.
