The first was Matt Simms. Matt was an excellent story for the Jets in 2013, working his way up from barely a camp arm to second string quarterback. He stepped in as admirably as anyone could when called upon to step in for Geno Smith in mop up duty, throwing to a 63.4 passer rating.
The other was outside linebacker Jermaine Cunningham. He was signed earlier in 2013 by the Jets, and was active in two games, posting no stats. After being drafted in 2010 by the New England Patriots he posted 3.5 sacks in three seasons.
Jermaine could add some speed on the outside with the pass rush, and it doesn’t hurt that he used to play for the enemy either.
