Good move upcoming by John Idzik and company, in light of recent injuries, especially to Mike Goodson.
Per a tweet from NFL Insider Adam Schefter, the Jets are set to sign Josh Cribbs, who worked out for the team just a few weeks ago. Cribbs is a guy with definite playmaking ability, a desperate need for a Jets’ team that lacks in threats on the offensive side of the ball.
This is a smart move, especially in light of the loss of Mike Goodson. Goodson was showing a burst of speed on offensive, him going down for the year created a desperate need for Josh Cribbs to fill.
His best year as a wide receiver was 2011 with the Cleveland Browns, when Josh posted 41 catches for 518 yards and four touchdowns. He is also a well-known threat in the kick return game, with 11 kick return touchdowns for his career, eight on kickoffs, three on punts.
He has rushed the ball to the tune of 5.9 yards per carry, so Cribbs can pose as a threat in the run game as well. Good move, smart and necessary.
UPDATE:
The Jets also signed WR Greg Salas. Most recently with the Philadelphia Eagles, he has been with three teams over two years. In 2011, he caught 27 passes for the St. Louis Rams for 264 yards.
Could this mean that Clyde Gates time is ending soon? We shall see.
