Well, that explains the mystery.
Kellen Winslow has been oddly missing from practice over the last couple of days. There was speculation that he was upset about his role in the offense. There was also wonder about how his knee is holding up. Genuinely, there has been confusion this week as to what is happening with Winslow.
Well, now we know.
Just a few minutes ago, the Jet Press has learned that Kellen Winslow has been suspended for four games by the NFL for the use of Performance-Enhancing Drugs. He will be eligible to return on November 4th.
He was listed as doubtful earlier, that would obviously downgrade his availability to “out”. Tough break for the Jets, as although Winslow may have been frustrated, he has played an influential role, including a touchdown in last week’s win against the Atlanta Falcons.
This will call on Jeff Cumberland to increase his workload to make up for the loss. He is looking for a TD in his third straight game, and he will get his chance.
