He may be past his prime, but Willie Colon’s spirit is undeniable. He is the typical Rex guy, who once he is on your team, he is all about your team. He considers his team his “brothers”, and has been a great fit with the Rex Ryan team concept.

He talked about where the team is at, development wise:

I think we’re right on course. I think this team has high hopes. But we’ve got a long ways to go. Obviously, it was a great Monday night win and we were able to come from behind. Pittsburgh’s no joke. I tell you that from being an ex-Steeler, knowing how those guys think in the locker room. There’s a lot of pride in that locker room, from the organization, from any man that wears a helmet. They’re going to come in here battle ready. We better be ready to go too.

He also see Pittsburgh as desperate:

I see a desperate team and I see a team that, coming off a bye week, they’re kind of like, “Alright, we’ve laid an egg. Let’s start our season again.” Knowing how those guys think, they’re going to be ready to go.

See what I mean? He can assess the team, and stay focused going ahead. He knows that his old team will be ready to go, and that his team needs to be prepared similarly. He is “all in” with the New York Jets, and I am happy he is here.
