This one is a tough break for the New York Jets defense.
The team has announced that linebacker Antwan Barnes has been placed on season ending injured reserve with a knee injury. The Jets had a lot of hope for this player to make an impact rushing the passer from the edge. But that is no more, at least until 2014.
In his spot, the Jets have brought back a player also known for a great deal of potential, but very little output on the football field. In the place of Barnes, the team has decided to sign Ricky Sapp. Likeable player, and a player with some excellent potential. However, he is not a guy that has shown us much on the field as of yet.
Sapp is fast off the edge, no doubt. However, he has always gotten hurt, or simply underperformed during the regular season.
It becomes a great move if Sapp performs, as he is the younger player, but as it stands now, this is quite the tough break for the defense.
