Two New York Jets Ejected; Bill Belichick Provides Motivation for Rematch

D’Brickashaw Ferguson and Willie Colon were both ejected in Thursday’s game in New England. Colon was asked after the game what happened.

“I don’t remember,” Colon said. “I saw Nick in there. There were a lot of guys around him. I was trying to run for my brother; that’s why I reacted the way I reacted. … I hope I don’t get suspended. I hope it’s not the case.”

As a fan, this is what you want to hear. The fact that Colon was willing to go to battle for his “brother”, shows the level of respect the players have for one another. When the Jets were dominate up front in 2009 and 2010, with Damien Woody and Alan Faneca still on the team, they had great chemistry. You can never overemphasize team chemistry, especially when it comes to the big guys up front.

Back to the brawl…

Bill Belichick had a strange reaction. Instead of kneeling on the ball and running the clock out, he made sure Ferguson and Colon exited the field first. Bellichick halted the game and yelled at the referee, until Ferguson and Colon were gone. Really Bill? That’s classy. I guess that’s, “the Patriot Way”.

Rex Ryan will certainly use this as a motivational tact when the rematch comes around at MetLife Stadium, October 20th.
