The inevitable is finally here Jets fans.

Just announced by the team, quarterback Mark Sanchez has been placed on injured reserve with a designation to return. In a nutshell, that means that Mark can return to practice in six weeks and return to the roster in eight weeks time.

There is no real surprise here. With a torn labrum, despite Mark’s eagerness to rehab, the odds that he would return early were slim. So it is best to save the roster spot.

Some are speculating that the time of this announcement coincides with Mark telling the world that he won the quarterback battle. That is speculation for another day. We go with what we know now.

We know that for now and for the near future, this team belongs to rookie quarterback Geno Smith. All we can do now, like I said earlier, is take the good with the bad. We must endure the growing pains.

In Geno we trust, our future is in his hands now.
