John Idzik and company have been hard at work today on the roster. Just a little while ago, they officially announced the roster updates, so here they are:

  • signed RB Alex Green
  • signed DE/LB Scott Solomon
  • signed T Ben Ijalama

To make room for these three guys on the 53 man roster, the Jets waived Khalil Bell, Danny Lansanah, and put Josh Mauga on IR.

Here is background on all three, courtesy of the team:

Green (RB/6-2/220/Hawaii/Portland, OR) has posted career totals of 138 carries for 475 yards rushing and 19 receptions for 131 yards receiving in 16 games played over two seasons with Green Bay. Last season, he recorded 135 attempts for 464 yards on the ground and caught 18 passes for 125 yards in 12 games. Green joined the Packers as a third-round pick in the 2011 Draft after rushing for 1,652 yards and 20 TDs on 232 carries as a senior at Hawaii.

Ijalana (T/6-4/322/Villanova/North Brunswick, NJ) entered the NFL in 2011 as a second-round selection of the Colts. He appeared in four games as a rookie for Indianapolis before being placed on injured reserve and spent 2012 on injured reserve with an injury suffered during training camp. Ijalana started all 53 career games at left tackle at Villanova, becoming one of four players in school history to earn All-America honors in multiple seasons and one of two performers to earn all-conference honors three times.

Solomon (LB/6-3/262/Rice/San Antonio, TX), a seventh-round selection by Tennessee, appeared in 13 games as a defensive end, posting nine tackles as a rookie reserve before the Titans switched him to linebacker this offseason. He entered the NFL after a four-year career at Rice that saw him tie for the school’s all-time record with 24 sacks and rank second with 44 tackles for loss.

The Lansanah move was a bit of a surprise, as he came on quite strong towards the end of camp, as did Kahlil Bell.  Mauga was never going to be a big presence anyway.

Here are the 6 members of the practice squad:

■ WR Michael Campbell

■ LB Troy Davis

■ DT Tevita Finau

■ S Rontez Miles

■ TE Chris Pantale

■ T J.B. Shugarts

The Jets have two more to fill out the group at eight.

UPDATE

Dalton Freeman has been added to the practice squad as well, leaving room for one more player.
