If you read my posts frequently, you know that Kellen Winslow is a guy that I have suggested the Jets go after for quite some time. However, judging by how things transpired, I was in a vast minority on this subject. Kellen Winslow, to much my surprise, sat around as a free agent for quite some time before John Idzik came calling. With that, the Jets made have just come up with a major off-season steal.

You want to know who this is not lost upon? Kellen Winslow. He spoke yesterday about his perspective, being such a veteran:

I do. I’ve matured. I do. This is everything to me, so I’m going to make the most of it.

He does have lofty goals for himself though:

We’ll see. My goal is to have 100 catches. Will I have 100? I don’t know. I might have 20. But, that’s my goal. You play this game for something. I know that at the end of the day, that will help my team win because that’s what I do best. That’s a lot of first downs for the team. I’m just trying to help the team out. That’s just a personal goal of mine.

Overall, the Jets have gotten younger. However, having a guy on the team with a wealth of experience is invaluable. Especially at a wide receiver position, OK tight end but you know what I mean. With Santonio Holmes out, and possibly for a while, Winslow could serve as a leader as well.
