Did You Know? New York Jets Connection with Redskins’ Assistant

By Alan Schechter

We continue the ESPN tradition of “Did You Know?” right here at the Jet Press.

I put the old picture of SportsCenter to the right because it is appropriate for tonight’s article. ESPN used to end episodes of SportsCenter with a “Did You Know?” segment. Like it sounds, for anyone who doesn’t remember, it would be a point in the show where the host would mention a little known, but interesting fact. Once in a while, when I discover a fact that is deserving, I bring it to you guys.

So, did you know? Did you know that the Jets have a connection with an assistant on Mike Shanahan’s Redskins staff? He has been the defensive coordinator of the Washington Redskins since 2010. This gentleman has milled around in several different assistant positions, and was the head coach of the New Orleans Saints from 2000-2005.

This guy played one year with our New York Jets, at the end of his career. He spent his career in the AFC East, playing with the Bills from 1979-1985. He finished his career with the Jets in 1987.

Do you have any idea who I am talking about? Well, turn the page and see………….

The answer is Jim Haslett. Jim Haslett played one year for the Jets, in 1987. He was not a major contributor, playing in three games, starting in two games. However, he did post one interception during the three games he was active.

Just thought it was interesting.
