You all know how excited I am to see this guy in town. Kellen Winslow is a terrifically talented football player. He has had terrific years in the past, and his Dad was a terrific player as well, so he comes from great stock. If he is healthy, he will be a great addition to the offense. Kellen has already made an impression with the team, making receptions on the first day of OTA’s, after having only 24 hours to look at the playbook.

How long does he have, though? The fact of the matter is Winslow has been out of the league for a couple of years. How does he feel about it?

I have years left. My last year was 2011, I caught 75 balls. I’ve been productive. It’s just the NFL – that’s how it goes sometimes. You get cut, you get traded and you can’t do anything about it. It’s out of my control.

Kellen Winslow is confident in how he will learn the West Coast offense, and has a past relationship with coach Ryan:

Rex (Ryan) and I used to go at it when he was with the Ravens. He’s an awesome coach, man. One of the best defensive coaches in the league. He’s awesome. He’s a good guy.

Yes it’s early. But Kellen looks good, and is certainly ready to regain his reputation as a top-flight NFL TE. I’d be OK with him achieving that level with us, how about you?
