Some sad news to come out of Buffalo Bills’ camp today.

We have learned today that Bills’ legend Jim Kelly is battling cancer of the jaw. The specific cancer is called “squamous cell carcinoma”, and one piece of good news is that recent tests have shown that the cancer has isolated to the jaw, and not spread to other parts of the body.

Eyebrows were raised when Jim’s wife Jill mentioned, all most in an off-the-cuff manner, that the family was going through a “more serious (health) battle under our roof,”. Soon after, she mentioned that Jim would not be making a June 13th upcoming appearance due to personal reasons.

Earlier in the year, Kelly revealed that he had a cyst removed from his mouth, but was having no setbacks, up to and including this most recent turn of events, which is obviously a major set back.

The doctors have told Jim Kelly that is prognosis is good, but the fact is you never know when it comes to cancer. Jim Kelly was always a hard worker, going back to his playing days. If Jim Kelly can’t hit the field again, It certainly won’t be caused by anything holding him back from within.

Good luck Jim.
