Well, whoever chose “wide receiver”, as the position the Jets were going to be first to add a veteran to was correct, although I don’t think this is the veteran that Jets’ fans had in mind.

David Garrard was placed on the reserved/retired list today, and the Jets signed a wide receiver to replace him. Announced by the Jets today was the signing of Ben Obomanu, who spent the first seven years of his career with the Seattle Seahawks. Here are Ben’s career stats to date:

Word came out that the Jets also gave a tryout to veteran wide receiver Derek Hagan.

Reaction? Well, it’s good to see that the Jets are looking to improve the roster, at a position where the Jets are thin. No, it wasn’t Braylon Edwards, but at least it’s a start.
