Do the New York Jets Add a Veteran Before Camp? Jets Fans Speak Out

By Alan Schechter

Hope everyone is having a great Wednesday afternoon. It’s time to bring you another edition of “Tweet-Speak”. For anyone that doesn’t know what that means, it’s quite simple. I give you guys the topic via Twitter, you send me the tweets with your opinions, and we feature them in an article that I present you here.

The topic is John Idzik and the handling of the Jets’ roster going forward. There haven’t been that many additions lately, so that got me to thinking about the roster. Specifically, it got me thinking about whether or not John Idzik and company will add a veteran, at any position. So that is the question I posed to you guys in the world of Twitter. The responses I got were remarkably similar.

@thejetpress a tight end because they don’t have one. Anyone will be fine.

@thejetpress at TE, think Brent Celek is added due to familiarity with MM plus team being very thin at position.

@thejetpress Clark,Heap,Winslow or Cooley, they are thin at TE, that goes without saying

It seems that the fan base would like a TE added. I can understand that, it’s not like we have a roster just hemorrhaging depth at the position. Let’s look at some more.

@thejetpress if it is before camp it is Braylon but after roster cuts I think they grab Jason Avant

Even Jet Press staff are allowed. Interesting thought about bringing in Avant, due to his familiarity with the Mornhinweg system.

@thejetpress They need to add a tight end. A good vet would be preferable.

@thejetpress WR but it really depends on the health of Holmes.

It would make sense for the team to bring in a wide receiver as well, especially if Santonio isn’t the same anymore, which is possible. They are thin at the position as far as depth is concerned.

So the focus amongst the fan base is TE and WR. For all of the people who want Mark Sanchez out, I am surprised that nobody suggested a veteran quarterback.

Just a thought.
