New York Jets Fans React to 2013 NFL Draft Day One

By Alan Schechter

This morning, we have a special edition of “Tweet-Speak”. For any of you that are unfamiliar, “Tweet-Speak” is where we take tweets from you, the Jets fans, about a particular topic, and feature them here at the Jet Press in an article, which is what we are going to do right now. The topic? Day one of the NFL draft, and our team’s performance.

As you know by now, the Jets had two choices last night. They chose Dee Milliner, CB from Alabama with the 9th overall choice, and Sheldon Richardson, DT from Missouri with the 13th choice overall. You have heard my thoughts, so what do you guys think? Let’s get to the tweets, and you will see a great deal of mixed reactions:

@thejetpress First pick was solid, second pick was a swing and miss.

@thejetpress One thing that I think is Rex Ryan knows defensive linemen. Thats all I got.

— Terry Holden (@Terry_Holden3) April 26, 2013

@thejetpress I like the Richardson pick. I hate taking corners in the top ten, but if he’s as good as they think, I’ll learn to like it

— Ron Ferraro (@Ferraro41) April 26, 2013

Interesting thought there by Ron. If Milliner is worth a top 10 selection, we will forget the fact that we didn’t like the choice, and hoped for a different position chosen at #9.

@thejetpress BPA on our board. Gotta trust our scouting dept. Picks 5-8 kinda forced us to go the way we did.

— AJ Sicignano (@ASig3) April 26, 2013

Kind of a reluctant acceptance there by AJ, and understandable. Moves that were made right in front of them, like Mingo and Austin being chosen had a lot to do with the result here.

@thejetpress the ability to go 4-3,3-4 , 3-3-5, 4-6 etc Millner allows Wilson to play slot/nickel back

So it seems like Jets Nation approves a bit, but mostly is mixed. I sense a lot more approval of Milliner than Richardson. People seem to be questioning the choice of Richarson a bit more, as I did this morning.

More to come as the picks roll out tonight.
