2013 NFL Mock Draft: The New York Jets Select…….

By Sean Lester Durham

The weekly Fansided 2013 NFL Mock Draft is out and this week the guys over at Fansided has made an interesting selecting for the Jets and we’ll briefly dive right into and analyze their selection…..

The Selection:

“9. New York Jets – Bjoern Werner, Outside Linebacker/Defensive End, Florida State

Bjoern Werner sliding out of the top five isn’t something you see too often, but there is a good chance the draft could fall this way. If it does, expect the Jets, who are desperate for a pass rusher, to pounce all over the most consistent pass rusher in college football from a year ago.”

FSU’s DE Bjoern Werner would instantly upgrade the Jets pass rush.

My Take:

– I for one would LOVE to have the Jets jump on Bjoern Werner, who I have called one of the BEST and consistent pure passers in the draft along with Texas A&M’s Damontre Moore and Werner’s teammate Brandon Jenkins but I just don’t see Werner slipping down that far to be honest.  Werner has elite pass rushing skills and a high motor and those 2 attributes is something coaches will swoon over on the next level.  Werner would certainly be a perfect fit in Rex’s defense and would most likely take advantage of the attention DTs Quinton Coples and Muhammed Wilkerson will command for the most part by utilizing his burst off the edges to get after the QB.

The 6’4” 255 pound DE is excellent size and frame for a 3-4 OLB on the next level and we should probably look for him to be off the boards before the #9 pick but if he isnt and he is there at 9, then its a no-brainer for Idzik and Rex…. According to this Mock Draft, if the Jets were to pass on Werner for some idiotic reason or another, Jarvis Jones, Chance Warmack, Dee Milliner, Eric Fisher or Ezekiel Ansah are all other prospects that I would have no problems with the Jets if they went after.

Here’s some highlights on Bjoern Werner for those that are unfamiliar with him……enjoy.
