After being spurned by Dave Caldwell, Woody Johnson and company are back to the drawing board, coming up with new candidates.

A name that has come up today is Tom Telesco, VP of football operations with the Indianapolis Colts. He has also been linked with the Chargers job, and per Adam Schefter, he has been invited back out to San Diego. The Chargers are also supposed to name their GM soon, so Telesco may be off the market soon too. Other names that have come up include Joey Clinkscales, Director of Player Personnel in Oakland, and Brian Gaine, assistant GM from the Miami Dolphins. Gaine is of interest to some, especially long time media members, because Gaine is a Parcells disciple.

Gaine won’t go over well with the fan base, as he doesn’t represent a change in direction. The Parcells philosophy has been in place since the 1990s, and a new type of voice would do wonders to energize Jets Nation. Clinkscales, on the other hand, would be well received, as he has had success in the past when he was here.

UPDATE (1:30 PM)

It appears that Gaine is going to interview this week, some sources have confirmed.  Telesco doesn’t appear to be interested, as he looks to he headed to San Diego.
