In this week’s Thursday night Ring of Honor Profile, we take a look at another guy from the Super Bowl championship squad. Spotlight on linebacker Larry Grantham.

He played his college ball at the Unversity of Mississippi, and is a member of the “Ole Miss” hall of fame.

He was drafted by the Titans of the AFL in 1960, who later became the Jets as we know, and formed the backbone of the defense that went from being a joke in the AFL to a back to back playoff team in 1968 and 1969, and world champions in Super Bowl III.

He was selected to the All Time All AFL Second team, was named to the AFL all star team five times, and played in eight league all star games.

He is one of 20 players to play in the AFL for it’s entire existence(10 years), and one of 7 to play their entire career in one city. He was MVP of the Jets in 1971.

A force to be reckoned with, and enshrined in the Ring of Honor. Linebacker, Larry Grantham.
