Well, coach Rex Ryan may not know his role for sure yet, but we do know that Mike Devito is staying around.

The Jets and DeVito came to terms on a restructured contract today, saving the team $600 K in cap space. It drops his base salary from $2.26 million to $700,000, but DeVito will make $2.5 million in other guaranteed money. He will receive in the new deal a $500,000 roster bonus, $350,000 workout bonus and a $950,000 signing bonus.

He can also earn $750,000 in incentives related to playing time, which sources say doesn’t even need to be 2/3 of the snaps, so DeVito will do OK.

There is speculation as to whether the recent moves by the Jets to free cap space is simply to sign draft picks, they have a surprise signing coming, or they are putting together a new Revis deal.

Like I always say, time will tell.
