Free Agent Tackles that Would be a Fit for the New York Jets

By Alan Schechter

October 2, 2011; Baltimore, MD, USA; New York Jets tackle Wayne Hunter (78) against the Baltimore Ravens at M

We have discussed at length that the Jets had a good draft. Despite other’s opinions, the Jets had a terrific draft, acquiring talented players at positions they need. The one position they haven’t addressed, however, is offensive tackle. They do have some competition as we have discussed, but there are some free agents out there, that would be a good fit. Here are a few:

Max Starks Here is a guy that has spent his career blocking for Ben Rothlisberger, and doing a good job of it. At 6’8″ 345, he’s a guy that can just get in a pass rusher’s way for a few seconds, and be an upgrade over Wayne Hunter.

Another guy still in the prime of his career is Adam Goldberg. At 31 years old, he still has some good years left in him, and 6’7″ 305 pounds would be a good addition to the right side.

Here’s a name that Jets fans are familiar with, Kareem McKenzie. Why not? We are familiar with his ability, and although he is 32 years old, he has not had any major injuries problems, starting in at least 12 games every year since 2002. We know he can play, so why not?

There are players out there to compete at this position. Why not bring in one of them?
