Urban Meyer on Tebow:”He’s About As Positive As I’ve Ever Heard Him”

He coaches Ohio State now, but at one time, Urban Meyer coached the Florida Gators, and Tim Tebow. Not that we didn’t know this, from the million times Tebow used the word “excited” in his press conference, but Tim Tebow is excited to be on the New York Jets. He shared this with his former coach, which he related to ESPN’s Sportscenter.
“I actually talked to Tim last night,” Meyer said on ESPN’s “SportsCenter” on Wednesday. “From everything he tells me, he can’t be more excited to be in New York, (to) play for coach [Rex] Ryan and be with [fellow quarterback Mark] Sanchez and the rest of those players. He’s about as positive as I’ve ever heard him about pro football.”
He also talked about how Sanchez and Tebow will be similar to Tebow’s early career with the Gators.
“When Tim first came to us, Chris Leak was our quarterback,” he said. “The ability to play two guys that are very different at what they do causes defenses a lot of problems. Tim has a unique skill that not many people have.”
A couple of problems. One, the dynamic of two quarterbacks can work at the college level. That’s the difference Coach Meyer. You were coaching him in college, not in the pros. No team interchanging quarterbacks in the pros is ever successful.
Another thing I wonder. Is he so excited, because he’s been told that he can compete for the starting quarterback job, and we just don’t know it.
I’m still worried.
