This morning, we take a look at a guy that the Jets have invited to NJ for a workout, who could be considered for the weak safety position. Spotlight, Brandon Taylor, LSU.
Take a look at a full scouting report here
5’11″ 209 pounds
He ran a 4.58 in the 40 yard dash.
In 2011, he recorded 71 tackles and 2 INTs.
Pros: He has excellent instincts at the safety position, he is rarely out of place on the field. He’s a very physical player.
Cons: At 209 pounds, he will need to bulk up a bit for the NFL. He’s also not great in man coverage.
Take a look at some video and you be the judge:
He clearly likes to come up and stuff the run. Anyone that can throw his body into run stopping can be an asset to the Jets defense. He would be a good value for some depth, although I would like to see a guy that’s better in the pass coverage.
