Today, we take a look at another guy that is flying in to be worked out at Florham Park with the Jets(per Jake Steinberg). He’s a wide receiver that could be a legitimate deep threat at the professional level. Spotlight on Rueben Randle, WR from LSU.

He measures in at 6’4″ 208 pounds, so he definitely has the size to make it at the next level.  He ran a 4.55 second 40 yard dash at the Combine.

Although he is leaving college after his junior year, a great junior year it was, with 53 catches for 917 yards and 8 TDs.  With an average of over 17 yards per catch, he clearly is a threat to get down the field.

Pros: He has good hands, and due to his size can make the catch in traffic.  He is athletic, and a very savvy route runner.  He can break tackles and accumulate YAC.  He also is alert to adjust his routes when the QB is in trouble.

Cons: His speed is good, but not elite.  He’s not very elusive, as far as juking defenders in tight spaces.  Needs to learn to be a bit more physical in order to create separation off the line of scrimmage.

His size and hands would definitely be an asset to the Jets. I still think they should go pass rusher in the first round, but this might be a guy to look at in the second round, maybe if they can move up a bit higher.
