The NFL awarded it’s compensatory picks in the draft today, and the Jets were one of the major beneficiaries.
The NFL awards these picks based on a formula set up by the NFL Management Council. It has to do with value of free agents lost, but not every free agent is part of this formula. It turns out that the Jets benefited greatly from this, receiving 2 additional picks in the 6th round (#202 and #203 overall), and two in the 7th round (#242 and #244 overall).
This could be of great use to the Jets, as they need are in desperate need of depth at multiple positions. These extra picks will serve to fill those needs, or at least should.
