Randy Moss celebrated his 35th birthday today.  How is he celebrating?  By announcing his return to active professional football.

“I just wanna go to a team and play some football,” Moss said on a video posted at the website Ustream.tv, according to ProFootballTalk.com.

He retired because of off the field issues, but now his family has told him to go ahead and play.  He didn’t play in 2011 after a rough 2010 where Randy made stops in New England, Tennessee and Minnesota.

The next question becomes what kind of interest the veteran will receive on the open market. It’s believed he has a good relationship with the Patriots despite his ugly departure from the team in October 2010. Other teams would surely consider Moss if he proves he still has the speed to stretch defenses.

But Moss is also at an age when many veteran wideouts find themselves out of football. Of course, Moss isn’t most wideouts. His 153 touchdowns are tied with Terrell Owens for second on the career list, and he’s also fifth in yards (14,858) and ninth in catches (954).
