Saints Brees to be a free agent

New Orleans Saints Drew Brees won’t work on a new contract until the end of the season.

Well, that could turn out to be a problem.

Without a new contract, the Saints have expressed interest in applying the franchise tag to Brees for next season, expected to be in the $14-$16 million range.   Brees wants no part of that.

If he doesn’t sign it, he won’t be under contract — and a free agent.
