Jets Coaches Schotty and Pettine not going anywhere

With a recent surge in coaching vacancies (Miami, Jacksonville, Penn State), it’s only natural that New York Jets coaches Brian Schottenheimer and Mike Pettine would be the subject of head coaching rumors.
Well, they are hear to tell you that they are staying put… for now.
“I’m just happy to have a job,” Offensive Coordinator Schottenheimer said, laughing. “A weeks ago, if you asked people, I was lucky to have a job … This is the time of year for people to speculate and talk. This is the time of year for us to work.”
Schottenheimer signed an extension last offseason and is under contract through 2013, but would not be prevented from taking a head-coaching position.
As for Pettine, his Pennsylvania background make him ripe for Nittany Lion talk.

“I’m thrilled where I am,” said Pettine, who is signed through at least 2012. “There’s not much interest there. There hasn’t been contact either way, so I think that was somebody doing the math — Pennstlvania background, opening at a Pennsylvania school. I guess the next thing is, I’ll be up for the Pitt job.”
