Quarterback Andrew Luck, the favorite to go number 1 in the 2012 NFL Draft, confirmed that he plans to forgo his final year at Stanford to enter the NFL.

Luck said he is “absolutely” ready to make the jump to the pros this year.

“I thought it was … understood when I came back last year,” Luck said.

With the currently winless Indianapolis Colts closing in on that top pick, the decision on whether to keep current quarterback Peyton Manning will be a nice subplot this offseason.

Luck has thrown for 80 touchdowns and 21 interceptions in his three years at Stanford.
