Updating our earlier article on Chicago Bears running back Matt Forte, The Chicago Sun-Times and Sean Jenson are reporting that Forte has a torn MCL.

The injury came when Forte took a helmet to the knee from Chiefs linebacker Derrick Johnson.   The Bears would lose to the Chiefs.

Forte is in the final year of his rookie contract, which pays him $600,000 in 2011.   He has publicly had problems with the Bears organization all season about a new deal.

Chicago Bears general manager Jerry Angelo told WBBM-AM a few weeks ago that the team made a multiyear contract offer to Matt Forte at the beginning of training camp, but it was rejected. According to Comcast SportsNet Chicago, the Bears’ offer to the fourth-year running back out of Tulane was over $32.5 million.
