You never want to hear the word “setback” when talking about football injuries, but that’s the term the New York Jets are faced with as RB LaDainian Tomlinson and WR Jeremy Kerley are still out from their respective injuries.

Both players, suffering from sprained MCLs, had setbacks during their side workouts on Monday, head coach Rex Ryan said after Tuesday’s practice.

“We worked them pretty good on the side and they were sore [Tuesday],” Ryan said. “I don’t know if we expected that much soreness. We did a lot of change of direction [drills] with them and all that, but they were a little sore [Tuesday].”

Their status is in the air for Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills, but it’s safe to assume that they will miss their second straight game.

As for Shonn Greene, it appears his rib injury has greatly improved, as Greene returned to practice Tuesday.
