What Jets loss of Bryan Thomas means for Aaron Maybin

With the loss of Bryan Thomas for the remainder of the season, the New York Jets may have to rely on newly signed Aaron Maybin to shoulder the load.

We say may, because the Jets view Maybin as a pass rusher and not an every down linebacker.  Still, nobody has been signed to replace Thomas as of yet and Maybin was one of the only bright spots Sunday Night.

Jamaal Westerman filled in for Thomas against the Ravens but Rex dismissed that option as permanent, as Westerman has not impressed anyone yet.

“They need someone,” an opposing personnel executive said Tuesday, speaking on the condition of anonymity. “You’re seeing now when they lose starters, their lack of depth is showing.”

Rich Cimini of ESPN New York has a thought: Former Patriots OLB Tully Bunta-Cain.  He was brought in for a workout a few weeks ago, and Cimimi reports the team has kept in touch with him.
