To succeed as a cornerback in the NFL, heck, to survive as a cornerback in the NFL, you need confidence.

Antonio Cromartie has plenty to go around.

The New York Jets CB wasn’t shy when asked if he were a superior player to Philadelphia Eagles CB Nnamdi Asomugha, the prized free agent this season.

Talking to Rich Cimini of ESPNNewYork.com, Cromartie felt he had the edge.

“My style of play and his style of play are totally different,” Cromartie said. “I feel I’m more of a playmaker than he is.”

Aside from his two picks last week against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Jets used Cromartie on kickoffs and even gave him a few snaps on offense, including a reverse run.

This week, the Jets visit the Oakland Raiders, a team that was heavily interested in Cromartie.
