New York Jets QB Greg McElroy injured his thumb on his throwing hand during Thursday’s Jets vs. Philadelphia Eagles game. McElroy appeared to bang it on the helmet of RG Matt Kroul on a follow-through.  Initial reports said that McElroy dislocated his thumb, which could be a long-term injury.  For his part, McElroy said his thumb “feels loose.”

An MRI is scheduled for tomorrow.  With backup Mark Brunell not participating in preseason due to his own injury, the Jets could be in trouble if Mark Sanchez goes down.
