Jets vs. Eagles: What to Watch on Thursday Night

Thursday night, the Jets will take on the Philadelphia Eagles in their annual meeting to close out the preseason.  We already know that we won’t see any of the starters, thanks to the Monday night tilt against the Giants.  The kicking battle was settled this week, with Nick Folk and TJ Conley being retained.  Here are a couple of things to watch for:

GO SICK EM AARON MAYBIN

Aaron Maybin has his audition tomorrow night.  Rex has stated that he sees Maybin as a pass rusher.  He will see extensive playing time on Thursday night, and it is his chance.  Aaron can be a pass rusher, the Jets need a pure pass rusher.  Will he fill his potential, or will he turn into Vernon Gholston?  Tomorrow night we will see.

STAY SAFE

Most important is to see no injuries.  No we will not see any starters tomorrow night, but many important depth players will be playing.  The Jets have been thin at offensive line, so any injuries up front would be devastating.  Mo Wilkerson is another important cog in the team plans, and losing him would mean trouble on the defensive side of the ball.  Josh Mauga is another player that is having a great camp.  Don’t get hurt.

JOE MCKNIGHT VS BILAL POWELL

It should be interesting to see these two guys fight it out tomorrow night.  Who is going to fill the active role on the 53 man roster?  Who may be relegated to practice squad.  Time will tell.

Enjoy the game.
