ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that WR Randy Moss  has retired from the NFL.

Schefter got the word from Moss’ agent Joel Segal: ”After weighing his options and contemplating offers, he’s decided to retire,” Segal said.

The 34 year old finishes his career with 954 catches for 14,858 with 153 TDs, good for second all time in career touchdowns and fifth in yards.

While the New York Jets were in discussions with Moss, the signing of Plaxico Burress eliminated any need. Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum verified that thought on Monday.  “Right now, I think we’re good at receiver in terms of there’s nothing imminent.”
