Asomugha picks Eagles over Jets

By Marc A. Greenberg

This cannot be a good time in New York Jets Camp.

Yes, Nnamdi Asomugha chose the Philadelphia Eagles over the New York Jets. That’s fine. Things happen. Move on.

However, the Jets put so much stock into the Asomugha chase that they have caused irreparable harm to both their current players and to free agents.

At 30 years old, perhaps the Jets were nervous about giving him a 5 year deal.  But by spending the better part of the past week consumed with all things Nnamdi, the Jets isolated themselves from other free agents and lost a few of their own.

So where now?

Do the Jets reach out to Antonio Cromartie and overpay for his services?

Do the Jets reach out to Braylon Edwards after telling him they weren’t interested?

With Asomugha and Cromartie-Rodgers, do the Eagles shop Asante Samuel to the Jets?
