The New York Jets have reached out to the agent of Damien Woody about bringing the right tackle back for another season.

Yesterday, Woody told ESPN radio that “it’s either Gang Green or nobody. That’s the amount of respect I have for the Jets, from (owner) Woody Johnson on down to Rex (Ryan), everybody in the locker room. It’s just a great situation for any player to be in, and I feel privileged to be part of the organization for three years. That’s where I stand right now.”

With free agency opening this morning and teams unable to sign players until Friday, nothing can be confirmed.

Woody, a three-year starter for the Jets, would be returning from a season-ending Achilles injury, so his health has to be a concern.

With the news it appears that the Jets are not happy with both free agent Wayne Hunter, who started at right tackle when Woody went down, and second-round draft pick Vlad Ducasse, who hasn’t looked comfortable in a Jets jersey yet.
