No Vote from the Players Today, Meeting Scheduled Monday

Tick tock on the opening of camps has begun.  We are waiting for the players to approve the new CBA but no vote was set for Friday.  NFLPA lawyers and brass were reviewing language of the proposal, and the next step is another meeting scheduled for Monday.

“Player leadership is discussing the most recent written proposal with the NFL,which includes a settlement agreement, deal terms and the right process foraddressing recertification,” NFLPA president Kevin Mawae said in a statementreleased Friday morning. “There will not be any further NFLPA statements todayout of respect for the Kraft family while they mourn the loss of Myra Kraft.”

The main point that is holding up a vote is the process of the union reforming and recertifying, which is essential for any agreement to occur.  There may be problems with the current proposal in how it addresses the setting of the lawsuits, and the reformation of the union.  These would need to be worked out before any proposal can go forward from the players side.

This could get ugly.  With all the reports that a deal “will get done”, why is it not done yet?  Already the Hall of Fame game has been cancelled, could others be next?
