Day 2 of the Roster for the New York Jets California Camp:

QB: Mark Sanchez, Mark Brunell, Kevin O’Connell, Greg McElroy

RB: LaDainian Tomlinson, Joe McKnight, John Conner

WR/TE: Brad Smith, Dustin Keller, Patrick Turner, Jeff Cumberland, Logan Payne, Kerley and Scotty McKnight. Braylon Edwards is in the area and expected any day.

As for Brad Smith, Rich Cimini reports that the QB/WR/KR specialist may be getting a little antsy with his role on the Jets.  “If a team is willing to give me that opportunity to do a little more … you only get to play this game one time,” he said Tuesday. “You don’t want to be in a place where they don’t give you that opportunity, and they understand that.”

In drafting Jeremy Kerley and Scotty McKnight, the Jets may have already sent the message to Smith.   Kerley is a Smith clone who could immediately step in on returns.

It is good to see Joe McKnight in Cali Camp, as the Jets drafting in the fourth round of Louisville RB Bilal Powell was a direct shot to McKnight.

“I was pissed and motivated at the same time,” McKnight said of the draft pick. “It really doesn’t make any difference; it’s just more fuel to the fire.”
