Timing is everything; Weis leaving Chiefs

Nothing like jumping ship during a Playoff season.

Media reports are confirming that Kansas City Chiefs Offensive Coordinator Charlie Weis has accepted the offensive coordinator position at the University of Florida.   Weis will remain with the Chiefs through the end of the team’s playoff run, but will be announced as the Gators’ new offensive coordinator on Monday.  The Chiefs are 10-5 and expected to host the New York Jets next week in the AFC Wild Card game.

Weis was hired by the Chiefs after being dumped at Notre Dame, and joined Romeo Crennel, the former Patriots defensive coordinator in Kansas City.

As profootballtalk.com suggests, it will be interesting to see whether former Broncos coach Josh McDaniels and Chiefs G.M. Scott Pioli will be reunited now.
