It appears that New York Jets QB Mark Sanchez has more of an injury than originally thought.

Sanchez’ is now a game-time decision for Sunday’s matchup against the Chicago Bears.

“I just underestimated where he was with that injury,” Rex Ryan said. “He’s sore, I mean he’s got a sore shoulder. But I thought he’d be ready to go if we played yesterday but when I talked to (trainer) John Melody he basically said ‘No, Rex he wouldn’t be able to go yesterday.’ I misspoke.

Ryan said that Sanchez didn’t have a ton of zip of the balls he threw in practice today. The Daily News reported that Sanchez had a slight tear in the cartilage of his right shoulder. Ryan did not confirm that, saying he only knows the injury as a “sore” shoulder.

Mark Brunell would be the primary backup.
