Let’s hope Santonio Holmes has a thick skin.

Having spent his first four seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers, New York Jets WR Santonio Holmes will be returning to Pittsburgh on Sunday to face his former team.

And Holmes is expecting a warm reception from the fans.  “I had a great relationship with those guys. I’m pretty sure (the fans) will give me a standing ovation once I get on the field,” Holmes said.

“I’m pretty sure you’ll look in the stands and see a lot of No. 10 jerseys with ‘Holmes’ on the back from the Steelers.”

The Steelers traded Holmes to the Jets for a fifth-round pick in an offseason where he was accused of — but never charged with — assault and was suspended four games for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy.

We’ll find out tomorrow but let’s hope Holmes won’t be crushed if the boo birds come.
