Will the Jets miss the playoffs?

With a record of 9-2 after 11 games, it was safe to assume the New York Jets could begin preparations for a playoff run.

With a record of 9-3, it was still safe.  After all, not winning the AFC East still provided the Jets with the Wild Card, and 10 wins seems like a safe number to get in.

Now, with a record of 9-4, and facing road games with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Chicago Bears, followed by a home finale against the suddenly hot Buffalo Bills, and this Jets team could finish with a 9-7 record and out of the playoffs.

Consider the Wild Card Teams right now (2 teams qualify):

New York Jets (9-4) – at Pittsburgh, at Chicago, Buffalo

Baltimore Ravens (8-4) – at Houston, New Orleans, at Cleveland, at Cincy

Indianapolis Colts (7-6) – Jacksonville, at Oakland, Tennessee

San Diego Chargers (7-6) – S.F., at Cincinnati, at Denver

Kansas City (if Chargers win Division) (8-5) – at St. Louis, Tennessee, Oakland
