So Rich Cimini of ESPN NY outlines how the Jets could make the playoffs today:

Here’s how, according to NFL.com:

1 p.m. kickoff — The Jacksonville Jaguars (7-5) lose at home to the Oakland Raiders (6-6).4:15 kickoff — The Jets (9-3) beat the Miami Dolphins (6-6) and the San Diego Chargers (6-6) lose at home to the Kansas City Chiefs (8-4).

Cimini continues that the Jets have made the playoffs in back-to-back seasons only four times in their 50-year history — 1968/1969, 1981/1982, 1985/1986 and 2001/2002.

Let’s be honest; the Jets shouldn’t even be thinking about these scenarios yet.  With the Bears win against the Patriots today, and with a Jets win, the Jets control their destiny for the AFC East title.  Let’s focus on that first.

Let’s win the division and not think about backing in as usual.
