Despite the obvious strong game from Tom Brady last night, the New England Patriots were led by a former Jet.
Danny Woodhead is becoming a New England hero.
Woodhead hauled in four passes for a team-high 104 yards, becoming the first New England back to rack up 100 receiving yards since Kevin Faulk in 2003. Woodhead also rushed for 11 yards on two carries.
Woodhead’s highlight reel came in the third quarter. With the Pats facing a third-and-4 at the New England 38, Brady took the snap in the shotgun and shoveled a quick forward lateral to Woodhead, on his left. Woodhead caught the ball, and ran to the left, eluding Jets’ defenders until being brought down at the Jets’ 12. The 50-yard catch and run exemplified the game: Great play call by the Patriots with the Jets defenders chasing the Patriots around the field.
“We won the game. Any time you win the game that’s the important thing. I’m not too worried about who it was against,” Woodhead said.
