Jets bringing in new kicker to replace Folk

ESPNNewYork.com’s Rich Cimini is reporting that the New York Jets are looking at possible replacements for kicker Nick Folk.
According to Cimini, the Jets will audition a free agent kicker on Tuesday. While Folk does not appear to be injured, you can consider this move a direct result of his shakiness lately on field goals, extra points and kickoffs.
Folk has missed at least one field goal in four of the Jets’ past five games and is five for his last ten. In Thursday’s win over the Cincinnati Bengals, Folk not only missed a 44-yard field goal attempt, but had an extra point bounce in off the upright.
While the Jets are not naming names, the free agent list has to include: Matt Stover (a Rex Ryan favorite), Kris Brown, Jeff Reed and John Carney.
Coach Rex Ryan said Monday that he’s “definitely concerned” by Folk. “When you miss the field goal, that’s one thing,” Ryan told Michael Kay on 1050 ESPN Radio. “But when he hit the upright on the extra point, it’s like, ‘Nick, come on, you can kick it left-footed and kick it through there.’
