After suffering a special teams breakdown on all levels in their 41-14 loss Monday Night to the New England Patriots, the Miami Dolphins fired their special teams coordinator John Bonamego.
Responsible for 21 points, Miami’s Special teams surrendered two blocked kicks (a punt and a FG attempt), leading to TDs, and gave up TD on a Patriots kickoff of 103 yards.
The Dolphins (2-2) also had a punt blocked a week earlier in a loss to the New York Jets.
Bonamego was in his 12th NFL season and had been with the Dolphins since Sparano became head coach in 2008. Assistant special teams coach Darren Rizzi will replace Bonamego.
