Sloppy win in Carolina

By Marc A. Greenberg

After an impressive opener against the Giants, the Jets performed a mediocre encore in Carolina last night.

Granted a win is a win; this one being a 9-3 sleeper; but this is the preseason.

Here’s the down and dirty:

1. 3 solid FGs from Nick Folk. Without him, Jets are 0-2.

2. Dwight Lowery redeemed himself from the Giants fiasco. A great defensive game with a couple of nice breakups on D.

3. Jim Leonhard (sack and INT) came ready to play.

4. Practically everyone else did not.

5. Chauncey Washington was solid at RB with some spark that reminded us of Shonn Greene last night.

6. Wow the Panthers special teams is dreadful. 3 fumbles lost on punt returns.

7. Mark Brunell looked bad… and old… bad and old.

8. Offensive line has to be better for Sanchez.

9. Joe McKnight is getting better. Nice punt return and good hard runs.

10. Vernon Gholston just doesn’t have that edge. He made a couple of tackles last night and just had no emotion. Nothing.

Friday Night. Jets vs. Redskins.
