Revis doesn’t exactly want $20 million

Shooting down rumors that Darrelle Revis and his agents have asked the Jets for $20 million, agents, Neil Schwartz and Jonathan Feinsod told the New York Post that those numbers were false.

However, it cannot be denied that Revis is likely seeking at least similar money to the $15.1 million Raiders’ cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha is making. Asomugha signed a three-year, $45.3 million deal last offseason, a contract that made him, based on average salary per year, the fourth-highest-paid player in the NFL.

Of course Revis is better than Asomugha; there is no denying that. But the deal from the Raiders was beyond maddening. It was just downright dumb.

Let’s hope this doesn’t get ugly. Revis, under contract already, seems to be sticking to the promise he claims the Jets made about giving him a new deal. If that is true, a deal better get done quickly.
